How I got into fitness:

I joined UKB & F in 2007 as I was looking for more of a challenge than the local chain gym. I was hooked after the first class. Although I had belonged to gyms for the prior 10 years, I never reached a challenging level of training. I didn’t know how. When I quit my job in 2008 to attend school full-time, I was not willing to give up my membership as it wasn’t a luxury but a necessity for my peace of mind, or, as Stephanie and I call it, therapy. I started training with barbells but heart always goes back to kettlebells and I look forward to taking my RKC (Russian Kettlebell Certification) to the next level in a few years.

Why UKB?

I have enjoyed growing with the studio and witnessing the evolution from kickboxing and sculpt classes to what I believe to be a full service gym. UKB is also unique because of the camaraderie between members. Long term members take care of each other. If you are having a rough time or lack energy, you can borrow some. Group classes are always more beneficial but at UKB, you work out with your friends.

 

As an instructor, I am proud of the level of training that we have received and the proficiency we strive to achieve. If one of us has a desire to learn about something, whether it be a workshop or a certification, others will join too because we are all excited to learn anything that can help ourselves and our members.
